Megan’s Law
The Megan’s Law website was set up as a community notification service to allow the public to protect themselves with awareness of the locations of convicted sex offenders in their communities. Some convicted sex offenders are required to be listed on the web site if they are deemed to be a risk to community safety.
The state of California is a populous state and because of this we have an extremely high number of sex offenders living in the state. We also have, in my opinion an extremely high number of sex offenders that fail to keep up their registration requirements, many as long ago as 1996.
