Do We Need Another Law?  

The state of California claims that we currently have 63,000 registered sex offenders residing in our state. I am not sure if this number is limited to the sex offenders listed on the Megan’s Law web site. If this is the case we have more than 63,000 sex offenders because not all sex offenders who are registered are required to appear on the Megan’s Law web site.

The Megan’s Law web site is intended to be a safety measure for the community. In theory people are supposed to be able to check the web site to see if sex offenders live in their neighborhoods. With that knowledge people can then take precautions to safeguard themselves and their children.
