SOCA-Shame

This blog is about Sex Offenders in California. It is shameful how these cases are handled in California.

Offenders are given very light sentences. I believe it is important for judges to administer justice for the victims of sexual assault by sentencing offenders to the longest sentence available, not the minimum.

I don’t believe consideration should be taken for first offenders either. First offense, do the time, the longest sentence available. I believe this is the only way to send a clear message to offenders in California, if you sexually assault someone, especially a child, you will be locked up for a very long time with no time off for good behavior. You exhibited bad behavior on the outside, why should you be rewarded for something inside that you should have been doing all along?

Victims need to feel safe enough to come forward and report the crime committed against them. The only way they can feel safe is to know that once they report the crime they will receive support from all involved including the judge to assure justice will be served. No longer should victims be made to feel that when they report the crime they are the guilty one’s.
